BILLY AND SONYA DUNLAP

OWNERS & EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

Billy and Sonya Dunlap are Huntsville natives, owners, and Executive Directors of The Vision. They have also been blessed to serve as part of several local and international mission projects over the past 25 years, as well as supporting with church planting in South Huntsville.

The Vision was launched to allow people a unique place to experience God, away from the pressures and demands of everyday life.

They have seen God open doors, remove obstacles, and direct their paths in ways they’ve never experienced before. Many individuals and groups have prayed over, encouraged, and supported Billy and Sonya since the beginning of this ministry.

Their life purpose is to be involved in ministry sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ– every day, everywhere– whether it’s through serving food, sharing hospitable lodging, and/or facilitating activities.

Billy is a third generation builder and has owned a commercial contracting company for the past forty years. He enjoys using his professional skills with what God has gifted at The Vision.  Billy and Sonya have had fun through the years developing the land together. Billy builds and Sonya decorates. She is always amazed at how he can visualize buildings and scratch them out on a napkin long before they are reality. She then loves to accent all his creative work by adding the little touches making buildings warm and welcoming. God has blessed them with complimentary talents allowing them to work together on this vision God has given them.

With a passion to stay busy, Billy and Sonya are constantly bouncing ideas off of each other. They know this is where God has called them in this season of their lives, and they have no plans of slowing down.

CAVETT COOPER

Ever since Cavett was a young boy, he has had a passion for Christian camping and retreats, and appreciated their unique ability to serve as an environment for the Holy Spirit to move in the lives of the guests. He sees The Vision as an especially well-equipped place to minister and be ministered to.

Cavett first attended The Vision at a 2017 fall retreat with the men’s ministry of Twickenham church of Christ.  Shortly after, he enjoyed lunch with Billy and Sonya and we’ve become friends and partners in ministry ever since.

He is eager to share his talents, along with his fellow board members; in meaningful ways to further assist The Vision in accomplishing its mission.

TODD WHITE

BOARD MEMBER

Todd and his wife, Lauribeth, have been married for more than 30 years and have three grown children.  After serving for 20 years in the Air Force, they relocated to Huntsville in 2007.  Todd is Vice President of Operations for a local manufacturing company, serves as an elder/shepherd for the Twickenham Church of Christ, is a board member for the Huntsville Inner City Learning Center and of the leadership team for JH Outback North Alabama.

Todd has a desire to reach families with the good news of the gospel and to equip them to enjoy healthy, Godly relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children.  Their family became involved with the JH Outback ministry years ago because it is committed to that mission.  JH Outback offers weekend events for Husband/Wife and Parent/Teen couples twice a year in a remote, camp environment in the Paint Rock Valley north of Huntsville.  He has been richly blessed with the opportunity to teach parenting skills to hundreds of parents and to watch God transform the lives of countless families during that time.

Todd met Billy and Sonya at a retreat he attended at the Vision in 2017.  He saw in each of them a servant heart and a desire to reach people with the love of Christ through their beautiful facility and ministry.  Since that time, he has seen countless examples of their love for the Lord and for families and has been honored to join them in this amazing ministry as a part of The Vision board.

BERT SUMNER

BOARD MEMBER

“What an exciting time and place! Camp was NOTHING like this when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s!”

Bert loves Alabama football and loves The Vision – you could say that he ‘married into both of them back in the fall of 1992 when he wed Sonya’s younger sister, Deborah.

Bert and Deborah currently reside on a small farm in College Grove, Tennessee along the southern rural outskirts of Nashville. They have two adult children and are soon adding a son-in-law to the mix. Luke is 25, Jacqulin is 22 and her fiancé, Trevor, is 26.

Bert is the owner and lead graphic designer at Ground Level Design, a boutique creative agency and design studio that he established in 1993. Ground Level Design provides creative services to a variety of corporate and entertainment industry clients, and he has been thankful for opportunities to put his skills to work for The Vision.

Deborah and Bert have been fortunate to watch God create a calling in the lives of her sister and brother-in-law Billy. From the initial land acquisition years ago, they have watched God move in undeniable ways – opening doors and sometimes closing them. They continue to be awed by the faithfulness and resourcefulness that Billy and Sonya have exhibited as they have labored to carve this incredible facility out of the side of a mountain. Deborah and Bert are thankful to be part of this amazing ministry, and he appreciates the opportunity to serve in an official capacity and offer his time and talents as a board member of The Vision.
